Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
You can go to your local nursery and buy ladybugs. Just open up the package and let them fly. I've done that and it worked great. Ladybugs LOVE aphids.
You can use a spray called liquid 7 or if you don't want to use a pesticide you can mix dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray the plants very well . Liquid ivory is the best. Make sure to spray the underside of the plant as well as in the dirt. If using the dish soap method you should do at least once a week until the aphids are gone. Liquid 7 may only take 1 application.
First I agree with Linda Valentine, & would start with the ladybugs! Another thing what we did that actually kept the aphids off our hanging baskets all together was, to paint the baskets with house paint. Sounds crazy but that literally stopped the aphids from invading our baskets.
Unless you re-pot the flowers you will have a repeated situation. They lay there eggs in the soil.
I used a a spray of water and lemon Joy and it did the job pretty well..
You're very welcome!
Google companion plants, they will tell you what plants to add to your hanging baskets to naturally repel pests, this really works.
Lady bugs eat aphids. I buy mine at my local nursery.
