Spray them down with horticultral oil and try applying a organic insect control
Correct insect name? There are many Different beetles! But Ortho malathion or Sevin spray mix, or dust should work.

Plant some Mary Golds between the plants.. or next to them. Bugs hate the smell of this plant, and will leave this alone!!!! I have them, also on my porch for they will not bother my mum plants either. OR, you can squeeze in one Mary Gold into a pot where you have other plants. No bugs, at all, and a peaceful summer!!!!! Best wishes, J.
Sprinkle sulfer on them or use tobacco from a can. Just put on a little of it so the bugs smell it. Viola they will not lit on it.
I have struggled with them in the past and this year decided to try row covers for the first few weeks. I hope to keep the beetles away until the plants are strong and maybe the beetles have gone elsewhere. You have to uncover them or they won't get pollinated, though. Can't use sticky traps or you'll catch bees - the very things you need to pollinate for fruit production!
