Are you absolutely positive the lizards are doing the digging? [Have you seen them do it?] I have never seen this. What kind of lizards are they?
I have never seen a lizard make those kind of holes but have seen armadillos and long beaked birds do this .
Lizards are your friends as they eat insects that may eat your plants. Leave them alone and look for something else that is making the holes. Like squirrels.
I've witnessed robins, chukars, crows, starlings do this. Btw, are you acquainted with GRUBS? That, my dear, is what they're going after...think about it..
Try removing leaves, old mulch and get down to the topsoil. Coat it heavily with cinnamon. You can buy large plastic jugs of it inexpensively at wholesale clubs. Not only does it kill mildew on ground and plants, but snakes, roaches, lizards hate it because it messes with their senses, confuses them without hurting them and they will stay far away from it. Copper does the same thing to them. Buy inexpensive copper pot scrubbers and place them just beneath the mulch and critters won't go near the area.
No. It will prevent fungus from growing. It can be sprinkled directly on plants without causing harm.
