How to stop chipmunks from chewing garage door weatherstripping
We have replaced the weatherstripping once and the chipmunks have chewed through that again. How do I keep chipmunks away?

Judy Ackerman on Dec 11, 2015I used to trap them and then move them to a location a couple of miles away. If you don't mind eradicating them get a cat.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Dec 11, 2015Wow I have never heard of chipmunks doing this- darn critters. I would go to your dollar store and get some cinnamon and cayenne pepper and sprinkle. If there is no where to sprinkle (sprinkle ground too) I would wet it and see if it will make a paste and paint it on the weather stripping good luckHelpful Reply

Kathy. on Dec 12, 2015They can probably smell some sort of food in there. Do you have dog/cat or bird food in the garage? Place is well sealed metal containers. The critters can chew through plastic. Best thing to do is trap them and get rid of them. They multiply.Helpful Reply

Janice James on Dec 12, 2015I read this in an organic garden book, get 4 to 5 jalapeno peppers or hotter variety place in a pot with 2cups water boil , let cool and put in a spray bottle, spray on areas (good thing is it doesn't stain) you can also put this on plants that are being eaten by bugs and worms.Helpful Reply

Meem Kaplan on Dec 13, 2015Rodents do not like mint. I use mint essential oil and drop around the places I do not want them. Then when they move out? Use it on the door frames and the base of the car door.Helpful Reply

S.wollert on Dec 14, 2015I don't know if this will work for chipmunks, but it did for a dog that I had that had a habit of chewing on our back door. You know the goopy stuff that is on your bottle of dishsoap, the build up of soap. Just take that an smear it on where the chipmunks are chewing. If they are like my dog, they'll hate it.Helpful Reply

Lori Johnson on Dec 14, 2015My sister had squirrels nest in her attic one year. The trapper who removed them advised to invest in Wolf urine. They r a predator of squirrels. If u can't find any, moth balls work good too. Plus moth balls repel raccoons, possums, Antilles, snakes too. They worked for me when I first moved in to my place. Becuz it Sat vacant for two years, there was a eco wildlife society in my back yard!Helpful Reply
