Lenten rose, lavender, they aren't too fond of dahlia, venca, spirea, they will eat day lilies but not usually, clematis, black eyed Susan, various wild flower species, and crepe myrtle. We have a large deer population and I have won and lost in the deer game. If deer are hungry, they will eat anything, but these are some I have in my yard that they generally leave alone, preferring to go for the buds on my rose bushes.

I‘ve had my eyes on the Texas Sage shrubs. They are so pretty when in bloom. My back yard is on a slope, so am considering groundcover like pachysandra etc in parts. My concern then would be snakes hiding in it.
