Sprinkle with ground red pepper. It keeps squirrells out of bird seed, deers and rabbitts from eating vegetation, may work for you.

If there is no fence or other trees nearby, you can add a collar to the tree so they can't climb it.

Dredday, We live in a gated community that has lots of squirrels and bunny rabbits. We all love them and one squirrel that lives next door to us actually goes into their garage and opens the can where they keep his food and helps himself. It is so cool and we all love them. Squirrels are extremely smart and it is hard to outwit them. Keeping them off your pear tree would require some kind of attachment made out of tin, etc. about 6 foot from the base of the tree & wide enough that the squirrels will slip off before they can climb the tree. Good luck & hope this answer helps. Rick Allen
Naomie, I totally agree, humans keep pushing all these beautiful creatures out of their natural habitat. We can at least coexist with them. That's for great response, makes my volunteering my time and knowledge worth it. Rick Allen
