What kind of plants can I plant to keep chickens off my garden?

want to have a garden , but chickens keep messing up my garden.

    I would rely on a fence, not plants.

    Why not use a mobile chicken run. If it is on wheels, you can move it around your garden to new spots each day where you do want the chickens to scratch - happy chickens, happy plants, happy gardener!

    Douglas, I don't want to put a fence; this will make "the garden" look ugly. But thanks for the suggestion.

      @Ruthie The problem is that there are really no plants that are chicken deterrents.

    None? there isn't a plant out there that chickens don't like!? Hard to believe this - But thx for the answers.

    There many ways to make an attractive fence that is not ugly. I would do a pinterest search and see all the ways you can build a decorative fence. Nice railings, posts, etc. Of course the meat of the fence will need to be metal. And Douglas is right...chickens will a forest down to mud if you given them enough time.
