We have an electric plug on the wall and I pull up until I have the plug centered in my side window. Anything on the outside opposite the car can be a 'sight' for you to use.
A ping pong ball is smaller or a decorative pompom could be handmade in your team colors if applicable.
I marked a place on the driver’s side wall to show exactly where my car should be when I park. I had to adjust it when we traded cars, but that’s easier for me than the tennis ball. I also have a little Stop sign on a pole. Batteries make lights flash when the front of the car touches the Stop sign. But I can’t remember to keep fresh batteries in the battery box, and the sign is not fastened down so it’s distance is off a little. By the way, the spot on the driver’s side wall that I judge by has been one or the other of the breaker boxes. When I look out of the driver’s car window my face is across from the switch box. I have a small sticker to remind me. I’ve never hit the wall yet! Best wishes 😇
Aside from putting a barrier on the floor that your tire will bump into, why reinvent the wheel? Tennis balls are used because they are easy to install, are soft so they won't scratch, and if you walk into it, it won't hurt. :-)
If you are wanting to hang something? How about getting a big Christmas ball instead of the tennis ball. They have a place to tie sting in the top and you can get different colors etc. Plus they are plastic. Just an idea.. Good luck
An answer I saw years ago, was to park the car as far in as you wanted. Using a step ladder, climb up to the ceiling with a hammer and a tack or small nail, and a piece of cord or string long enough to touch the front of the hood of the car. Tack the cord/string to the ceiling. Now, attach the tennis ball to the cord so that it touches the car hood. That should be your "parking space".
