What can I cover up my outside entranceway brick with?

I currently have a small outside entranceway (maybe 5 foot by 5 foot. The brick is on the two sides of the entranceway and I want to cover the brick up. What material would be good to cover up this brick with and make the entranceway still look as large as it is now?

How do you feel about painting it? Giving it a whitewash finish could possibly give it a nice makeover and a larger feel.
