I don't think it would take paint well. Could you just use siding on the front portion that is visible, paint all the trim, and clean up the rest with a power washer?Or--rather than side the garage with lap siding--can you buy sheets of T11 siding--looks like paneling--and stain it?Helpful Reply -

A quick change would be vinyl siding on the front. Are you sure it is asphalt as opposed to asbestos? Be sure before doing anything with it.Helpful Reply -

Paint ? No way. It won’t look good and it will not stick. T111 the sides and follow up with a sided front. Hardi board plank is excellent and reasonable. If you were to try to paint it you will be starting a vast project with a help vast ideaHelpful Reply -

I am not sure what you are talking about, rolled shingle siding, kind of like asphalt shingles only in a roll, or asbestos shingle siding. You can paint asbestos siding which would be cheaper than removal, but it would not be practical or easy to paint asphalt.Helpful Reply -

Try a sample area to see if it will stick and then spray paint to save time and energy.1 marked as helpful Reply -
