What should I use to paint my pool concrete deck?

It has been painted once about 7 years ago, so a stain would not work. It has been pressure washed and cleaned well.

You can buy paint designed for use on masonry at most home improvement stores. You need to clean the cement first so the paint adheres well.

Concrete/masonary paint or stain. Easy to use and looks great.

There is a product called Restore. It comes in a large assortment of colors. I used it on my front porch 2 years ago. It looks great and is holding up very well.

Do NOT buy the brand RESTORE !!!! I purchased it when it had just come out and I used on all my rent house purchases (to avoid slippage and lawsuits!!)... I used the special roller (expensive!) and it didn't last !!!! I used the Timberline colored on one house and the grey on the other ---- BOTH peeled after abt a month !!!! I went to Lowe's last week and the sales associate said that they are getting SO many complaints that he does NOT want to sell it at all!!! I asked him abt the other brand similar to RESTORE (by Olympic) and he said that he has not has 1 complaint yet ... So i purchased one gallon last week to TRY to paint over the RESTORE !!!!! I'm sure hoping it'll work BC I paid DEARLY for many Gallo s of RESTORE !!! (I kept buying more and painting over, but it didn't help!!). In a couple of weeks, after all this rain we've had, I'll be trying out the Olympia; I want my area to be good and dry! I think I'll head to the RESTORE review page; maybe I can save others from wasting their hard earned money!!!! Good luck !!!!

There is a paint product made for pool decking such as smart seal Patio perfect. You need to Prime it and then paint it. Olympic makes patio tones deck paint. It looks fairly easy to do. Good luck I am having extensive pool and deck work myself.

Thanks for the comments. I have only heard bad things about Restore. I think that because it will be wet a lot, that it requires something more formulated for pool decks.

When I had a pool our concrete area had something called cool deck painted on it. It's been awhile, but this product actually keeps the concrete so many degrees cooler, I forgot how much. It was a light sand color we chose. There were many colors as I remember and the plus was, not rough, didn't create slippery when wet, and cooler to the feet. You will have to check a pool place probably to see if it is still around. Maybe by another name also. Good luck

Definitely go with stain. It's beautiful and lasts for years.

Like so many of the above have suggested masonry paint, I agree! If you still are not sure call a pool supply company, they should be able to help. Good Luck!

@Phyllis there are a number of overlay products you can get for concrete. A little expensive, but you would never have to use it again. We saw some great products at the home show this year and are considering this for around our pool, tired of power washing every year.

We had a contractor re-do our pool deck with "Sider-Crete". They gound off the old crumbling kool-deck material, filled cracks, placed new expansion joints, then "splattered & painted". Pretty labor intensive though.
