Are there any successful Broyhill, from the 70's make overs?

sorry you consider the furniture crap...I happen to think they are gorgeous.

Can you remove the decorative trim, paint, and get new knobs and handles? Or do you need something more serious than that?

I was given a dresser like this for the lake house. I managed to remove all that over done trim. Don't know about yours but I didn't have much trouble removing it. I filled in the nail holes and painted and changed the hardware. I suppose it could have been re stained. I was going for a totally different look and mine had a lot of other damage

These are both from Pinterest, just look up Mediterranean dresser and there is quite a few examples in all colors.

Hello January; You truly have some fine furniture. Personally, I would leave it alone.

However, you can repaint it, and make it look Antique by using a creamy white. I would lightly white wash it. Some of the wood can still come through.

I would leave the handles alone.

It's not my taste, either. Wasn't back in 1970s and isn't now. I think this might be what was called Mediterranean Style, BUT it is real wood and today that is precious. Broyhill is a good manufacturer and the pieces will last. Take off the moldings, if you can, and go from there. Post a picture when you finish. Good luck! :-)

I had an entire bedroom suite of this Mediterranean style back in the 70's, but the headboard and chest disappeared at some point. Thanks to the replies, I'm about to tackle the 78" dresser and lamp tables. There are all kinds of spray paint that require very little sanding. I'm going with a medium gray and replace hardware to a brushed silver. This furniture is just too well made and has so much precious storage space I just couldn't let it go.

I posted on the other thread about this. Mine was for a child, but could easily be done differently. I used paint and giftwrap. Wallpaper is also a good way to go, after you pop off the trim.
