Hi ! You need to use a sealing wax to protect it . This goes on like a stain , you brush it on or use a cloth to apply it , then you wipe it off . This will dry to a hard finish , not waxy . It comes in clear or antique . Good luck !
Hi Donna, Have you waxed it after painting? Chalk paint needs to be sealed and left to cure for about 30 days. Then it will achieve a very durable finish. Was your vanity laminate? If yes, you may find you need to sand the laminate a little before painting so it has more teeth or grip
what type of sealing wax.
Chalk paint best left for items that will not receive a lot of wear and tear. (like an end table) Regular latex enamel will withstand the water, scrubbing and such that a vanity must undertake.
You need to cover it with a wax finish to avoid that.
It washed off because you never sealed it. Did you not read the directions? For most people, chalk paint is not the best choice for a bathroom. A gloss latex is a much better choice for a damp, high humidity environment. If you want to keep the chalk paint, seal with polyurethane.
You need to seal it well on a bathroom counter with a sealer made for such a project. You also need many coats.
was used on the bathroom cabinet not the top of vanity
