How can I replace or update a lamp with faux mica panels?

I got a pair of lamps for a steal at a garage sale. I'm looking for ways to update the panels as they are plastic and not real mica and have several scratches and dents. I don't necessarily want the mica look so looking for something new and different that will match the room decor.

Looks like it should be easy to replace panels with a tab construction but what to replace it with???
Room is light peach and grey with grey linen accents. Planning on chalk painting furniture in light grey or cream.

I would use very thin translucent PVC panels and cut them to size. You could paint on them if desired. I've purchased them from both Amazon and Walmart. -

Oops! DON'T get plastic/paper. Your light bulb may toast them, or toxic fumes can be generated. -

I would take panels out and paint them a cream color to go with the rest of the room. Than cut lace to fit and spray glue to front of panels before putting them back in. -
