How can you make a round table into a rectangular table?

    Permanently or for a special occasion? A rectangular piece of plywood laid on top of the round table and covered with a table pad and a tablecloth will

    work for a special occasion. for a permanent change you have to buy or make a tabletop and switch out the legs from the round table.

    That depends entirely on the construction of the table. If it is a slab wood top you could simply cut off everything that doesn't look like a rectangle. For that same construction you could have a cabinet or millwork shop make you a new top in the size and shape that you desire.


    Best advice I have is to donate your table to a Habitat ReStore and buy a table from them that you like. That's what I did. Gives you a tax write-off for the old table too.

    Hi Denise. You cut boards to border the circle if you want the table bigger. Add fasteners under the table to the new wood and the circle part. You may also need to add more support.
