    There’s lots of ways.

    1. I’ve seen people hit their furniture with chains, scratch it with steel brushes and make water marks on it.
    2. Then there’s the “antiqueing” glazes that are meant to look like grunge.
    3. To make the surface check or alligator, that can be done with school glue or hide glue with two different application methods.

If you want more info on that, then LMK.

Either use chalk paint or if your piece is already painted, take a piece of sandpaper and rub a little paint off ( which is distressing it) or if you have a hand sander, hit it with your hand sander for a few seconds....but don’t go

deep into your item, I would use Annie Loan chalk paint or use any paint and use a piece of sandpaper

If it is painted, you sand it here and there. There is also a paint that when you put it on it cracks and bubbles. You the pull off the bubble,or sand, here and there. Go to utube and put in distressing furniture.
