you need them spotlessly clean. use tsp- tri sodium phosphate. next is to prime the doors/cabinets- the primer can be tinted to match your paint color. I take the doors off the cabinets, and put them flat to paint. it helps to number the doors so they get put back in the same place the came out of. get a paint designed for kitchen use. get a good quality paint brushes...they shouldn't shed the bristles on to your project. there are mini rollers also available to use as well. take your time, don't rush through painting.

Prep is key! Make sure you wash everything down really well, take off the doors, scuff sand with 220 grit sandpaper and wipe off all the dust.

Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim and Door Enamel paint is used by alot of cabinet refinishers. It's durable and easy to use. Or benjamin moore Advance is a great paint too!

If you are looking to repaint - I recently discovered Oil Bond (you can get it here on Amazon https://amzn.to/2wGmiNO) where you rub this first on your cabinets. This helps the paint stick so you DON'T NEED TO SAND!! Also add a bit of Oil Bond to your paint. I would also spend a bit more for specific cabinet paint to ensure a smooth finish. I recently did this on my bathroom vanity and it turned out fantastic! Here are my pics of my project: https://wp.me/pUbK5-yRy
