I'm getting ready to put new fabric on an old office chair I painted, so as I started gathering everything, I realized that one small part is missing. The chair is similar to the blue ones shown below but is already disassembled so I just found this photo. The metal screw kind of thing below is what's missing. Only one is gone. I'm going to do a search in all the corners and behind furniture but if I don't find this one piece that's not quite 5/8" long, do you know where I can buy one? And what is it called?
One these is missing and if I can't find it, I need to buy one. It's not quite 5/8" long.
The metal piece shown above fits into this hole and it matches up with the exterior hole shown below. A long screw kind of thing fits into the hole to hold the seat part to the wood frame.

Those can be found for free at Ikea at least if you buy something small , they have lots of extra parts in back for missing parts just take one off the chair and take it for comparing size and width'

You should be able to find it at Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards. Take one you have with you. They come in all sizes. They would be in bins by the nail and screw area.

Sometimes the big box stores don't have individual screws - Ace Hardware is the best.

FYI be sure and mark each chair back, seat and frame so you know which pieces go together when you reassemble.. I didn't and it made a difference! They were not as stable.

WHEN YOU MAKE THE PATTERN FOR COVERS MAKE IT HALF INCH BIGGER ALL AROUND. A LOT EASIER TO CUT DOWN THAN MAKE IT BIGGER

When I attempted a recover on an item I've never done before I take "good notes" and pictures as I go. Use the old fabric for a pattern and then assemble in the reverse order of your notes.

I'm just wrapping the new fabric around the old stuff. Plus I'm putting more padding on the seat to make it more comfortable. Flying by the seat of my pants here, so hope it works. It's seems simple, so I guess I'll find out. :-)

try your local hardware store, many times they sell screws individually.

Lowes carries them in their Hardware department.

try the local hardware store, many times they will sell one or two, not a box or bag screws.
