Is it being used outdoors-then maybe do mosaic tile. Or possible brick it-They make some thin bricks that you could put on the unit. You could also wallpaper it. Or they make peel and press shiplap so it would look like a ships deck or at home depot They sell textured paper that might give it a different look. You can also paint it with different colors etc. There is a designer for "horchow". She used black and white checks along with various other colors. You could look up horchow and then look at home decor they sell. She always has items to sell. Emulating an Artist is quite an honor. Good luck with your project.
