I want to refinish my dining room table. What's the easiest/best way?

I don't want to have to do a lot of sanding . It has a lot of spindles underneath and carving around the sides.

you could paint the legs and apron using a chalk paint and wax finish...no sanding required, just prepare it with a good cleaning using a degreaser first. Then you can sand down the top (strip) and restain to restore the wood finish. Or the whole piece could be painted with the chalk paint.Helpful Reply -

if you're open to painting it, use chalk paint no sanding. Another option is to use gel stain by general finish.Helpful Reply -

Depending on the look you're going for, chalk paint is a good alternatve. You generally don't have to sand or prime a clean surface. You can thin slightly for a smooth surface OR you can can scuff the edges with sandpaper for a distressed look. Then apply paste ws for sheen and protection.Helpful Reply -

use a refinishing product that dissolves the existing finish (Amazon) and then reapply the new finish or paintHelpful Reply -
