Looking for ways to make a new "silver " chain look old..tips?

This is not jewelry, but chain to support a drop leaf on an antique desk. I could also buy a goldfish looking chain if that would "antique" better.......

If you can remove the chain, dip it in toilet bowl cleaner. Let it sit for an hour or so, then rinse. If not, perhaps, protect the desk with plastic wrap before painting the cleaner on the chain with a small brush?
There are buffing waxes in bronze that get rubbed on. Don't try to cover every surface.
