Cover with what? It is carpeted. If you want to remove the carpet and replace with cushions, those should be loose cushions so you can clean the covers.
You can staple fabric to the edges. Long enough staples will go through the carpet to the wood base.
Can you pull the carpet off? That would be my first attempt and work with what is underneath. Sand , paint and try a cushion that would go on a chase lounge. If not fill with pillows.
Can the carpet be replaced with anything?
I would pull the carpet off... and sand down and refinish or paint the top... then you could make (or have made) a cushion or cushions to fit on the top.
Thanks, all who answered. Removing carpet which no longer matches the room. Wood under it is just crappy plywood so sanding and finishing not the answer. Will try using long staples and fabric because that seems the most do-able. Quarter round and pillows will cover any other issues.
