Can I use gesso or white paint?
I’m in the process of painting but I don’t like how vibrant it looks. You can see the streaks of paint. Can I use gesso or diluted white paint over it to make it more dull? Help me out guys thanks

Diluted white paint will dull the color, so give that a try.
Diluted white paint doesn't seem to be the answer. Use lighter color to go over the edges of what you have. Lighter brown and grey on the black will tone down the color. Not the whole line just half of it meaning left or right edge of each stripe.
Using latex white paint thinned with water will give it a whitewashed effect. That might be your best option to tone it down.
You can use diluted white latex paint or another color of diluted latex paint. Make enough of the diluted paint to complete the project. Also try out your solution in a less obvious spot to see how it will look.
A white wash with diluted white paint should work.
Yeap agree with white wash using water added to white paint. That will help with this.
Use water and white paint to dull the finish.
Hi LilianK, hope this helps you out, you could use white gesso, but i would just thin some white paint and "whitewash" the picture.
It can be given a whitewashed appearance by using water-thinned latex white paint. Your greatest choice to make it less intense might be that.
Use a grey to tone it down as white will make it stand out more.
Hi Lilian, you can make an acrylic glaze by mixing white (or any other color) with matt mod podge and paint it over your artwork. A glaze may be more appropriate since you can build it up in layers to get the effect or tones you want. If you have a glaze medium, even better.
I would use a glaze and go over it. It's thinner than paint and will give you a more translucent look.
Thanks will do 😊
If you want a dull look - withe will only brighten so try an off white, beige, or a toned down green. You already have the green so dilute that with beige and try that.
Dull would be a relative term here as white, or thinned out white paint, will create a whitewash effect, not necessarily dull it. You can wash over it with a contrasting color such as blue to take the brightness of the orange out.
