I found some plate chargers at Dollar Tree...they are a resin type of plate...can I paint these plates to change their color?

Maybe lightly sand them first. Then paint and final add a coat of sealer.

You can spray paint them with paint meant for resin. Just wipe with paint thinner and then spray. Krylon has this kind of paint, see below:

Please consider using plastic friendly spray paint this product does an awesome job.

You may want to decide if you want to satin finish or a gloss finish ( or metallic) both might be available in a wide selection of colors.

I’m spray painting thrift store plastic planters now and I really like the way they’re coming out. They are far superior in thickness and durability than the current plastic planters you can buy in the retail market now.

A few years ago I spray painted hand-me-down faded mismatched adirondak plastic chairs to make a more cohesive seating and the plastic friendly spray paint worked fine
