How can I make chalk paint from interior latex eggshell paint?




Can I use the gallon of interior latex eggshell paint to make chalk paint? Or must I use flat paint?

You do not need to use flat paint. The eggshell should work. I have mae my own chalk paint using both eggshell and satin paint. Very durable. This is my favorite recipe for homemade chalk paint: http://www.paintyourfurniture.com/homemade-chalk-paint-recipe-plaster-of-paris/
Make sure you mix well so it is not gritty. Add more paint to thin.

This is our recipe for chalk paint: 1/3 cup Plaster Paris, 1/3 cup cool water. Mix well. Add 1 cup latex paint. Mix well. This will cover a 6 drawer dresser one time. You need to finish with a polyurethane to protect it. Do not save left over chalk paint, it does not keep. Hope this helps, Mary
