How do I paint 2 1/2” blinds?

Hello Deidre! You could paint each slat very carefully with a small brush. You would have to hang the blinds up so they were open as in your picture. You might be able to use a very tiny roller to do the longest lengths in between the ribbon and then a small brush near the ribbon. It would be a very tedious and maybe frustrating job. I am not sure it would be worth all the effort--maybe it's time to buy new. Spray paint would work for the slats but not on the fabric.

I'm wondering if a dye or stain might be a better solution, then you could "dunk" the entire blind and get the color throughout.

You could paint them, but you'll need to find out what they're made of first so you can get the appropriate paint. Painting the fabric would likely cause it to get crusty and not move well; you could try using a brush and dye. In the end, this is a gigantic project requiring a lot of patience; you'll have to weigh the pro's and con's.

I wonder if you could tape off the ribbon and spray paint the blinds and then un tape the ribbon and paint it by itself with a brush/detail brush. This looks like a time consuming projects, but it'll look great once you get it done!

Hi Deidre, they look wooden in your picture, and very paintable hope this video helps you out, and you can also paint them with a brush and acrylic paint too. Paint one side of each slat with with acrylic based enamel paint using a paintbrush. This type of paint will hold up well over time and is easy to clean. Apply paint on the edges and then set each slat back down on the tarp. Allow the slats to dry for the recommended period of time stated on the paint canister.

Yes paint them. The ribbon is not wood though so I would tape that off and paint the ribbon with a fabric paint. You can buy fabric paint right at Micheals. But what I would do is buy ANY COLOR latex paint and add a fabric medium into it. Try liquitex fabric medium or ceramcoat textile medium. Follow the directions for mixing from the fabric medium.

A question...are the slats removable? If so this would make you project much easier than taping off. This would otherwise be a project requiring lots of precision and patience. A semi-gloss by Behr would work for the slats, painting then on the top first and then the bottoms. For the ribbon part a fabric paint, you can find this at Joann's fabric store.
