Lemons?

Hi Sherry, It sounds as though you have a wonderful family that enjoys each other. You could decoupage lemon pictures on the white bowls. ModPodge now offers a dishwasher safe product and since you have plenty of time to get the project done you could do the ModPodge and then following the directions of letting them "cure" for a month before washing them.

Of course it is not food safe. People assume that being dishwasher safe means food safe also. Another option is to paint lemons in the bowls and bake them to bond the paint. Craft paint for ceramics would work. Paint the lemons. Place the bowls on a cookie sheet. Place them in a cold oven, turn the oven to 300 degrees and bake for an hour. Turn the oven off and let it cool completely. Do not remove the bowls while cooling. Once cold remove the bowls.

just saw some plastic bowls at Dollar Tree and also Walmart so you can get them while they are in stock for $1

I agree, Dollar Tree just released their new collection for a buck and you can buy them online if you wish. If you want to DIY them, I would buy clear glass bowls, paint or add decals on the outside of the bowl and decoupage. This way the bowls can be used for food. You just need to use dishwasher safe Mod Podge.

You could go on Etsy and buy some vinyl transfers of lemons that will be dishwasher safe.

The 99c store as well as Dollar Tree and Big Lots have dishes with Lemons on them. Not expensive at all.

You can decoupage them with lemon papers. what will they do with the bowls are they for eating.

You could use ceramic paint

You could use the dishwasher safe Mod Podge, but paint the lemons on the outside of the bowls instead of on the inside. (So the Mod Podge doesn't come in contact with food.)

Im happy with that & the kids will love them

so this year they will have a lemon bowl, a lemon key ring, a can of lemon drink & lemon drops LOL The LEMON lives on
