My pit where the lava rock sits, has the black paint all chipped away?
I was wondering if I can repaint it with high heat paint, or is it fine to just have the metal showing and some of the old high heat paint? I made sure I sanded it down good and is ready to paint if need be? I read NOT to paint where the lava rocks go???? Help? This is a propane fire table.
Thanx in advance
Tim

Hi Tim yep you can absolutely repaint it and yep it will absolutely chip away again lol At least that's the truth with ours! The high heat paint works great though and generally lasts us at least a couple of years!
Yeah you can repaint but it won't last. Don't paint where the lava rocks go. The glowing and heat they retain will burn the paint and fumes will be given off. That's why they call it high heat paint and not flame contact paint.
You can repaint but may chip
I would just leave it unless it looks realy bad.but if you do paint make shure to use the high heat paint like you said it should be for what your using it for.
Unfortunately, it's one of those chores you have to keep redoing. Good luck!
Thank you everyone. I appreciate it:)

Yes, you can paint it, but I would ask a pro in the paint shop for the proper high heat one.
We've painted ours every couple of years with no problem. A bit of a pain but it looks good!
High heat wood stove paint will work just fine

You could probably leave it as is but you can also use high heat paint. Make sure you remove any loose or chipping paint first but read the label on the paint to make sure where it can and can't go. If the label is not helpful enough, contact the manufacturer.
Expect some chipping where there are lava rocks, the heat paint will work well, but the effects are temporary.
Ok everyone. Thnx for the great answers:):) Appreciate it:)
It is absolutely okay to repaint them, However it would not last long and has a endency to chip as well.
