Thin white latex paint with water 50:50 ratio and then brush it on.

I have had some of my painted terra-cotta pots bubble and peel so I like to put a clear sealer on first to be sure that when watering the plant the painted finish will not be damaged. Watered down acrylic craft paints or white chalk paint might be considered. Additionally this finish can be aged with some brown or green washes for more antiqued used look after the water down white application has dried.
