On my staircase, do I paint (white) the risers or do I stain the step

Hello. Painting the stairs white would be hard to keep clean. If you want to stain and paint I would stain the stair and paint the risers. -

I agree with Amanda. white steps would be too much work to keep looking clean. -

Stain them. Will look much better look. Also stain does not show wear, like paint. The paint will chip and look bad. -

But paint the risers in a durable, washable white because that's where toes of shoes hit the stairs. 😇💖 -

Most people paint the risers and side, but stain the steps. It is your staircase and your choice, but that is usually how people do it.
