we have paneling in our family, it is painted and looks great. I would use a primer first and then paint. good luck
YES you can paint paneling, wash it well with a degreaser or tsp, prime it then paint your desired colour....you could also make it look like board and batten by adding some trim strips...Pinterest has some great ideas for fixing up panelling
I have the same question. I want to do something with my paneling a couple of years ago home depot had something that you could put on your paneling to textured it and paint over it and it didn't look like painted over paneling. was there about a week ago and they had know idea what I was talking about.
You could paint or replace It. Some of the newer paneling is quite attractive and inexpensive. If you paint it be sure to prime it first as the darker paneling tends to bleed through.
Yes, you can paint over paneling, but first put a coat of Kilz (oil base interior paint) so it won't take near as many coats of paint.
You can also "bring it back to life" by a good washdown of Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water. Rinse well with clean rag. Follow up with a rubdown of furniture polish. Voila!
Lowes sells a primer called Bullseye that you can have whatever color you choose from the paint cards mixed in.Kill two birds with one stone! 😀
Painting panelling can be very attractive especially if you use one of the new patterned rollers they have now. I have also seen this done looking very attractive too with a short board and batten a few feet up around the bottoms of the walls. If I had the privilege of using the roller I would go one shade darker with the special roller. Not a huge difference but looks very good on top of your paint coat. Have fun and show us pics!
Also , you can use wood putty in the crevices , let it dry overnight , and sand for a level surface in the morning . Paint with a roller after you prime for a smooth coverage .
prime with kilz, then paint over with latex paint, patch holes first.
paint with primer like glidden gripper
if you want to fill grooved use spackle or drywall mud
