I made pallet sliding doors out of oak pallets . Some of the boards ( after 6 coats of white paint) are yellow tinged still. What can I do to resolve the yellow tinted boards?

Also so I just cut the nails and now some of them are coming through rusty . Help please and thank you.

Did you prime with a good oilbased primer? Can't use latex over metal, it's like applying water and will cause rust. If you didn't prime correctly you'll need to send down and reprime in oil and either remove the nails or nail set them deep enough to wood fill the holes. Priming seals the wood and you should never need more than 2 coates.

One of the problems with using pallet wood for interior use is that because you never know for sure what has been on the pallets, there is no guarantee that whatever may be embedded into the fibres will not begin leaching out once the boards are exposed to interior heat.

Although some folks have had success with using pallet boards, it is not a consistently reliable construction material.

I agree with Kelli. You need to prime the boards. I only use Kilz. Should seal the nails also. I like to seal knots in wood before priming so they don't bleed through. You may try varnish on the nails. Just for extra measure.

William is correct on this. Kilz is the only way to go
