How can I raise up my thermostat?

we just bought a home and the thermostat is located really low on the wall. How can I raise it up. I would like to raise it up at least a foot.

Yes, this can be done, with standard home wiring knowledge and providing there is enough wire to stretch the thermostat control box this far-turn off the power breaker to the thermostat-take off the cover and gently pull out the wiring out of the hole in the wall-if there is enough wire (shine a flashlight inside the hole to see if you can tell from what direction the wiring is coming from- maybe it is wound around a 2x4 etc.)-if there is enough wire, then make a small hole in the new location on the wall where you want your controller-"fish" the wire up to the new hole using a long object, such a bamboo skewer with the end of the wire taped-small fingers, two pairs of hands, long needle-nose pliers, and wearing a head light facilitate doing this.-reattach the controller box as necessaryThis method can also be used to relocate a thermostat controller from one side of the wall to the next. -

Call an electrician, we had to move our dining room fan/light, to a new position about 3 ft. Have an electrician do it. -
