How to fix suddenly loud garbage disposal?

I have a newish garbage disposal that was very quiet until I dropped two things in there that shouldn't have been. I turned it off right away and retrieved the measuring spoons but didn't realize there was also a little piece of plastic (used to close bread bags). I retrieved all I could see of the plastic, but a little bit of that puzzle is missing and I think maybe it's stuck somewhere I can't see. It still works, but it's super loud now and sounds scary. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you bent the blades so you may need to replace them.

Sounds like you bent the blades on the impeller or a piece is stuck in the impeller. Use the allen wrench from underneath and go back and forth with it. Maybe a few turns one way and a few the other way might just free it

I would call a professional to fix this since it could have broken off part of the blade or other parts
The metal from the tie is probably stuck in there where it turns look with a flash light to see inside un plug if you put your hands in there you could even try a strong magnet
Hi Maggie, if the disposal is still working, you might try using it will putting ice cubes in it. The ice will sharpen the blades if the problem is only minor such as a tiny bit of a bread wrapper closure. I use ice cubes routinely to sharpen the blades of my disposal. Hope this is helpful.
