How do I seal cracks in fireplace back panel?
My wood burning fireplace has inside panels that look like bricks. I want to seal cracks that resulted from years of banging logs Against this panal. I found out it is not a fire hazard as I worried about, but is cosmetic. It is too expensive to have repaired. What can I use to do it myself? Thanks

My fireplace damper needs lubrication. Obviously WD40 will burn up and cause a fire in the chimney. What about graphite?

You might also try to find a metal panel at a scrap yard and place in front of the bricks. That would help retain and radiate heat.
