As a 68 year-old, 5'6" woman, I don't consider myself "short"; but even at my height I can't change the lightbulbs or clean the ceiling fans. That's why the new step ladders are such a great invention. Step ladders with the safety rail across the front are lightweight enough to move on my own to clean the fixtures that are mounted to 10 foot ceilings. Buy a safe ladder and good luck!
Call a friend with a ladder
May as well invest in a ladder which you'll find useful for years to come to change light bulbs, clean high cabinetry, wash tall windowos, etc., etc. I don't like to depend on other people to do things around the house, so my ladder has served me well over the years.
