What solution will dissolve battery acid?

After leaving batteries in a flashlight for far to long, I am unable to get the 3rd battery out. I need a solution to soak the flashlight shell to remove the battery. The hope is it will not effect the switches and contact posts.

there is a good probability all the contact points are corroded, go for a new flash light. -

Sorry..I think Dfm has the best answer. But if throwing away is the option...why not try anything? -

I have used a thin baking soda paste and brush, however if it is that bad, the damage has already been done. Sorry.
