Do you think modpodge will work on the headliner in a car?

I have a sunroof that has leaked and the headliner is "loose" and coming down in some areas. I was thinking that if you can use mod on several DIY's with fabric that I have seen here, why not the headliner? HELP!

Funny you asked Sue, because I also need to know, I agree I would think it would work, but not sure. I have T-tops so this should be a major for me. Good luck, I will be watching for the answers.

Because Gravity is against you, Modge Podge is not the best adhesive for headliners. At any place that carries lots of things for cars, you should find tubes of "headliner adhesive' in various brands and sizes. I don't know which other glue is equivalent, but probably Gorilla Glue or E6000. And you may need to retouch the sealer. If you call the service department of a car dealership that specializes in selling your brand car, you can get info. Call Tuesday-Thursday, between 10-3pm and be mindful of lunchtime. Be nice and explain that you need adhesive and sun roof sealer. Make a friend, and you might get all the info you need. Then you will be better prepared to get your car in shape. 😇

I don't think Mod Podge would hold up in a car. The extreme heat and cold would be too much. I don't think the Mod Podge would bond with the fabric overhead.

    Try spray adhesive.

Use a spray adhesive that is used under outdoor carpeting, as it will stick better when the car gets hot and humid. Make sure the spray is good for material and whatever the material is going to stick against. Some are good for metals, some for wood, etc.

Several years ago the headliner right above my windshield came loose and looked terrible. I used LocTite Super Glue Gel on it and it is still holding. You can't see it when you're sitting in the car, but you might want to test a spot before doing the whole thing. Sounds like some of the above ideas might produce a better-looking result.

I hope it works because I just did my headliner with modpodge tonight. My old cloth was sagging so I decided to go with pink cherry blossom trees with a grey background on satin fabric. It’s still wet so I’ll let you guys know how it turns out. I’m also doing my door panels with it and then spray painting the interior trim magenta and candy pink. Lol I love summer projects.

I had the same problem with my headliner in my vehicle. I first tried duct tape the same color as my interior and while it worked for a while, it did not last. I then got some silver tacs. Not too long of a pin and not too big...perfect size!! I used it in the mindset of like knobbed furniture. I like silver, so that's the color I used...and yep! It worked! It looks fahionable, and it's doing the job! Hope this helps!!
