Wet heat or dry heat? I've seen a method for removing those white stains from moist heat that uses fine ash mixed with (real) mayonnaise. Gentle circular buffing with a soft cloth is supposed to remove the stain and the oil in the mayo leaves a shine. If its an expensive table, I'd ask a furniture restorer. Try googling it? -
