How to attach a large headboard to the wall???

We bought a seagrass king sized headboard with our house thinking it was on a frame. It turned out to be only the headboard! We need to attach it to the wall but the legs curve and it will not rest flush against the wall. The middle part seems to be hollow plus not a good idea to drill through that area...but we are not sure how to attach it to the wall. Any ideas?? We do have the metal bed frame for the box springs & mattress but that won't work to attach the headboard to that.

A french cleat should work. There has to be a wooden frame to which the seagrass is attached. If there is, you can attach the french cleat only on the sides right where the wings join. No need to drill through the center section.

julies1949 and you are so right that the french cleat method is the most secure way. That's how hotels hang their headboards. Just in case your husband isn't excited about that method, a little extra wood at the base, could customize a bolted connection to the metal bed frame.

We had the same problem. Hubby attached a 1x6 flat to the headboard at the bottom even with the places on bed frame where there are holes and used nuts and bolts to secure then attached to the bed frame.

Use wood planks to make horizontal legs. This will hold the headboard and you can put it wherever you want.

I also used a French cleat to hand a headboard. Works great.

Nothing was resolved so we are selling the headboard and buying an entire bed instead.

Yes, it was just not worth it...it sits WAY far away from the wall....it would take a whole day to get it so it would fit plus we got a great deal on a WHOLE bed!!! Anybody in Atlanta want to buy this marvelous headboard???

Thanks for the idea but the people who bought our old house want to buy it for the beach themed room they are planning...now we just have to rent a truck to get it over to the old house to the new house!!! Lots of work!
