Older maple chair when seated & leaning into chair, spindle pops out, pinching your arm. How to repair?

    Wood glue and a clamp to hold the spindle in place until the glue is fully dried.

    You can try filling the hole a little with some wood putty . After it dries, use wood glue to glue the spindle back in place .

    I would use the wood glue advice, that would work the best.

    Seems like the chairs flex from being loose. Try to tighten any parts that may have screws. Use wood glue for the spindles, but if the chair flexes the glue bond can separate. What I have done after gluing is drill 1/8" holes where the spindles slip in to the chair. Drill through the wood and spindle. Insert a 6 penny finish nail going through the wood and spindle. Cut off the excess nail and counter sink it. Glue dries and nail prevent the spindles from popping out.
