How to fix peeling paint on aluminum house trim?

Question

I have a brick home with aluminum trim on the soffit and fascia. The original finish is peeling in some areas. How do I fix aluminum fascia peeling/paint peeling off aluminum trim? I was thinking of using 0000 steel wool on the bare areas and trying to match the factory as close as I can. Maybe someone else has a better idea. Thanks

Hi there, Rub down, and apply Aluminium Primer and then your colour.

I agree with John. Remove peeling paint as much as you can with steel wool or sandpaper. Aluminum soffit and fascia require a different treatment, because they are nonporous and will be exposed to harsh weather conditions. Then you can apply the paint, which should also be appropriate for outdoor areas. Good luck!

Lite sand paper wouldn’t work then re paint

I had a guy recommend replacement

of trim, applying new metal on top as a cheaper option. I’m not sure how it will look though
