My 1940s house In Oregon, has marine plywood on the coast. And we paint it every couple years. It was on here when I moved in 16 years ago, and its still in great shape. -

Treated Timber ? Hardwood or General Timber as long as it is protected and decorated (Could be Fence Preserver.......... -

Most carpenters just use ordinary pine boards. You will be covering it with the fascia so it will be protected. -

The white plastic boards it my be expensive but you only put it up once -
