If the toilet is leaking out from the bottom and the ring has clearly failed in that respect you could definitely try replacing the ring and not the whole toilet.
You can just replace the ring. We just remodeled 2 bathrooms. Kept the toilets. Buy new ring and reset toilet.
What is your project? All you need to do is buy a new wax ring to reseat it in place.
