A little wd40 might be ok, just make sure and clean it up good before using the toilet lol or you might slide right off
Spray WD40 on the hinge.
Lysol, regularly, believe or not.
Try using a silicone spray which will help to lubricate it whether it is plastic or metal. hTis is also good for windows that slide in tracks. Just spray the track.
Use one drop of WD40 or a finger laced with petroleum jelly to oil both hinges on the top and underside. If the seat is plastic, you may be hearing the sound of plastic squeaking and preparing to break. Oil it anyway. And prepare to buy a new one. I hope this helps, End. ☺️
