Hi Dawn, it depends on the material the backsplash is made of. If its a smooth stone or tile a razor blade will work.
You can purchase a silicone caulk remover at your hardware store which comes in a small container. It is made to loosen caulk for easy removal.
There's a tool that you can buy at your local hardware store specifically for removing caulk
This method should work-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg2FfE7gpXM
Use a Dremel!
I've used a razor blade and gently scraped.
This article should help: https://www.connecticutstone.com/how-to-clean-remove-and-reapply-caulk/

For water-based caulks, begin by soaking a towel or washcloth with warm water. Then, apply the warm water to the existing caulk. This process will serve to soften the caulk and make it easier to remove. For a silicone-based caulk, do the same thing but with acetone or denatured alcohol for better results.
Hi Dawn, hope this helps you out.
