My house is 76 yrs old. How to out the “pins” in bathroom door hin

There looks like that there is a lot of paint on those hinges? To remove the pins, you might have to scrape some of the paint off these hinges. Get the pins out with a screw driver and push the pins up to remove the door. The door hinges probably have a lot of paint on them also? So you may have to scrape some of the paint off there also. Try not to scratch the plates taking them off. You can buy new hinges. or you can soak these in paint remover. Bea careful not to get close to the paint remover and no smoking around paint remover. After the plates are somewhat clean, wear plastic gloves and an old tooth brush to clean the rest of the paint off. Rinse and let dry. I painted mine the next day with gold leaf paint, let dry. Put the hinges back onto the door. Really, hinges are not that expensive. Like my house, I have too many doors to do at once. That is why I temporary painted them. Best of luck

I would remove the door by unscrewing the hinge from the door frame, then unscrewing it from the door. Boil the hinge fir 5-10 minutes. All paint peels off at once. It's an old house restoration hack. Saved us money, time, and aggravation.

I like Liquid Wrench or Lock EZ myself. When its that old, a wire brush and some paint stripper might help too.

The problem is they've rusted. That's the first issue you'll need to address. First things first.. protect the floor under your door. Fold a piece of cheesecloth into a oblong pad 4-5 layers thick. Lay the pad on a piece of Seran wrap then coat with Navel Jelly. Lay that against the hinge and tuck it in until it stays in place. Check every few minutes to see the progress. Once you see the rust loosening use the cloth to wipe away the rust. Clean with soapy hot water then follow this video on how to remove the pins.

Once you have the hinge removed clean the paint off with Industrial strength Goof off.

I was told by a plumber to use a long narrow pumice stone to remove rust around a drain, and faucet in an old bathtub and it worked great. Im sure it will work removing the rust (and old paint) from the hinges, Just work slowly and be easy so you don't make deep scratches (if that can even happen) I have also used a product called Zudd which is a powder, it is great for removing built up stains on tile, you can also get a product from the dollar store called Awesome. This stuff is exactly that, Awesome and this liquid cleaner can be used in laundry, basic household cleaning; windows; yard equipment I mean a ton of different ways, you just have to follow the product to water ratio which is provided on the bottle, for each purpose it can be used for.
