Privacy and light-filtering window treatments

My bedroom window is at ground level and slides open from right to left. I'm looking for any ideas that would 1) allow light to filter in, 2) provide some privacy, and 3) allow for an open window. It's a small bedroom so I don't want anything bulky. My guess is I'll have to use 2 different window treatments. Help!

Either blinds with curtains or a double rod with sheers or curtains. Or buy shutters. Or how about a roller shade with curtains?
Yes, layered is the way to go for these requirements. In a small bedroom use the room privacy curtain wall-to-wall. You will be amazed how large it makes the room look.

As to leaving a ground floor window open, I cut a wooden dowel for my clients window that fits in the bottom channel and leaves the window open just enough for air, but not wide enough for a hand to fit through. Get the dowels at the hardware store, I use 1- 1/2".
I'd definitely use privacy film. You can also dress up the window using the privacy film and sheers over it..
If you do not need to look out of the window you could apply a sticky frosted paper to the glass. For safety, it may be wise to place a stick in the track so that the window opens only so far and no one can get in.
