I have garden beds outdoors framed with pvc and shingles to keep out weeds. I used good size area in front of screened in porch

Are you looking to get rid of the weeds in the beds? If so you can lay black plastic or fabric down to kill them. -

Although I don't know the nature of our question, I would be cautious in using house shingles in your garden as it may leach an oil based product into the soil thereby contaminating it and nothing will eventually grow.
