I want to upgrade my vinyl entry ways and bathrooms with ceramic tiles by going right on top of the existing vinyl floors
how do I do this without tearing out the floor

  • Pull out the linoleum dude. You don't have to tear out the whole floor. Just the linoleum. Mastic won't stick to it and it will crack causing major headaches down the road. Not worth it to cut corners sometimes

What is the easiest way to do that due to the contractors glue they used?

pull the vinyl and scrape the glue? Heat?

what advice and tips can you give me?

      thanks

  • When I pulled the linoleum out of my grandpa's bathroom I used foil and an iron. It melted the glue and it came right up. Kinda hillbilly I guess but it did the trick. Heck of a lot easier than scraping all that crap up

Remove the vinyl. The installation of new flooring on top of the old flooring will create a different level where the new flooring meets the next room at the doorway; people will trip over it.

  • Ive already answered your question once, but this keeps coming back up in my notifications. So I apologize in advance if I'm repeating myself. I used aluminum foil and an iron. Start in a corner and work your way back. The glue scrapes up so much easier after it's warm. It may be sorta hillbilly but it saved me lots of scraping
